MarineDiesel installs twin Barracuda 200 Hp naturally aspirated V8 "Drop In" marine diesel engines into an older Wellcraft 30' Excalibur boat model. This particular installation is part of the ongoing "Performance Boat" propulsion development program at MarineDiesel. This Wellcraft Excalibur will ultimately be powered by twin MD330Rpm models which are the 4000 Rpm 330 Hp version of the already popular Hammerhead model. The rising cost of fuel in conjunction with the ever increasing cost of the "Performance" gasoline engine is truly causing this particular market to evolve towards diesel power. Diesel engines capable of operating at 4,000 rpm opens the door for being able to couple a diesel engine to any of the various existing outdrives available to this market.
